Warped Tour 2008

Ah Warped Tour, why must you be so amazing? Took us 30 mins to get to the concert exit, 15 mins to park and 30 minutes to get inside, that's just about 11:20ish I should think. After snagging a band list and map I headed out to see Cobra Starship at the Highway 1 stage.

Gabe, skinny jeans, bright colors, fuck you all attitude. Vicki had her keytar! <33 I took a lot of pictures and was pretty sweaty by the time they finished. They a 25ish minute set with 6 songs I think. After that I headed out to the merch tents before Katy Perry. I bought a Cobra Starship t-shirt, a Warped Tour '08 canvas bag ($2 heck yes) and a Charlotte Sometimes t-shirt.

Katy Perry was playing under the amphitheater (@ Hurley.com stage) so I headed over a half hour early to get a good place. The band before was Oreskaband, a Japanese ska group, I was like wtf? All these tiny Japanese girls wielding brass instruments, it was crazy but still pretty good. I ended up 2ND ROW at Katy Perry. I swooned and took a massive amount of pictures. She had the letters K & P on her butt, lol. There was a really big sweaty guy up front who kept screaming "I love you Katy Perry" "You're so hot" and he was talking to her (without her answering of course) when she was talking to the audience between songs. He kept pushing up to the front to try and grab her hand when she came up close and I had to keep shoving him backwards 'cause he was trampling me and these two girls next to me. I got a security guard's attention and had him keep an eye on the guy but then this drunk girl and her girlfriend push their way to the front and she keeps trying to climb over the front and the security guard had to forcefully push her backwards off the fence. It was pretty funny. But anyways, Katy at one point during the show said "I like girls" and I know it's a lie but seriously I was all a flutter. She also had a fake phone call from her dad. She had a cute pink Fender electric guitar and an acoustic. One of her guitarists had a sparkly silver guitar. <33

After Katy I kicked around the merch tents and discovered this incredibly fantastic band from London called TAT. Okay so they shredded really hard and the first reason I went over there was because I heard the girl's voice and she sounded just like Maja Ivarsson from The Sounds so I was like, omg <33. I went over and Tatiana de Maria, wow is she a fox and she's British so she's got an amazing accent and she can play the guitar like no girl I've ever seen. She poured an energy drink down her pants ... I caught the can when she threw it out but I threw it away, no sense in keeping an empty can. Anyways I bought their EP and had her and the bassist sign it. I got a pic with her and chatted about how much she sounds like Maja. She took it as a very big compliment because she loves Maja and toured with The Sounds at the 2006 Warped Tour, which I didn't fucking go to because I'm a loser.

I took a couple pics of Say Anything, walked around the merch tents again, caught some Angels & Airwaves then went and saw TAT's acoustic set where I sat up front. Did I mention Tatiana is fucking gorgeous? I listened to a couple Anberlin songs then went back to the amphitheater and saw Ludo! I was 3rd row this time, lots of pics, lots of loud scream-singing. Saw Charlotte Sometimes at the Ernie Ball stage and took lots of pics, I was front row. <33 Went to her tent for the signing, gave her the sign I made her, she gave me a hug and I got her and her boys to sign a poster for me. She is such a sweetheart. She had a double ear infection over the weekend so I asked her if she was feeling better and fortunately she was, she actually had to skip a show because of it.

I took some pics of All Time Low for my friend then took some pics of Relient K and Motion City Soundtrack too. By the time we got back to the car it was 8:10ish and I was burnt to a crisp on my shoulders and upper back. I looked like total shit and was covered in a thick layer of sweat and dirt and grit. SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!!!!!

I can't wait 'til next summer.

Ate chili and rice and cheese when I got home. Chugged a water bottle. Took a cold shower. Slathered myself in aloe and then surfed the Internets and watched the new episode of Fear. This guy got lost in the mountains, got possessed by a Windigo (wind demon spirit thinger), came home looking like a zombie, ate a horse, killed a ranch hand, killed his brother and tried to kill his wife and two sons. Turns out the sons weren't his but were his brother's. The wife shot him with a shot gun. It was pretty good, made me jump a little once which is always cool.

Now I'm going to read and sleep for eighty billion hours.

I'm fucking tired.
My ears are ringing.
I spent $90 on all of Warped Tour (ticket included).

kthxbye.

What's up?

Work was relatively interesting today, I was pretty surprised. I made a damn pretty calendar on Excel for my mom and since I was working slowly I ended up working for a little more than an hour. I did a little databasing using my amazing fast alt+tab skills to surf the Internet for pics of the bands I'm going to see at Warped tomorrow.

I can't remember if they have mini-posters or anything for the bands to sign so I made some sheets with pics of them to sign in case they don't have anything or if they run out. I read about the bands online and tried to learn the names of the members or re-learn them because I forgot some. Maybe if I type them out I'll remember better...

Charlotte Sometimes: Charlotte (vocals), Spencer (drums), Coley (keys), PJ(guitar) & Shaun (bass).
Ludo: Andrew (vocals & guitar), Tim (guitar), Convy (keys), Marshall (bass) & Matt (drums).

Okay maybe that'll help. I went downtown for lunch and met up with a rep from Emmis Communications, they own a lot of radio stations all over the country. She gave us a tour of the corporate headquarters which was really awesome. There were sound booths everywhere and the offices were really cool. We went to a place called The Capitol Grille for lunch and I had this massive cheeseburger, it was delicious but it kept falling apart and I couldn't finish it. Did some stuff on the web site and helped some of the builder guys with some mild tech support (aka they can't use Excel, lol) and looked up some more pictures.

Got home and immediately set to work on my signs, I ended up spending so much time on Katy Perry's that I only made Charlotte Sometimes a sign too. I've actually decided I don't want to wait in line to meet Cobra Starship so I can go and shmooze around the merch tables and make friends. I'm gonna still try and loiter around the WEI booth and I have more bands to see so I can take some pictures for a friend. At the moment I only really want to see Katy, Charlotte & Ludo. I could live without Ludo but Andrew was such a sweetheart at the 500 so I kind of want to see him again and give him another hug.

My signs actually took me a total of about 3 hours which is crazy as hell. I copied fonts off dafont.com, I <3 that web site. So yea I picked out my final outfit for tomorrow and have all my shit packed up but I'm still waking up 45 mins early to make sure I've got everything settled. It's not supposed to rain during the day but there is possibility for storms at night but hopefully it'll be late at night 'cause I don't really know how long Warped will go on tomorrow. Don't know band play times 'til tomorrow either.

I've got lots of money to spend. I'm thinking about two t-shirts at the moment. Maybe some random shit, idk. Fun, fun, fun.

Katy Perry I love you.
Andrew <333.
SPF70 fer shur.

kthxbye.

Ring around the rosey

I spent at least 6 of my 7ish work hours doing database shite today. I got from H all the way to P which I'll just pick back up tomorrow. My mom almost gave me the day off tomorrow 'cause she didn't have anything for me to do but then remembered that we had a lot of out of the office meetings so I'm working again.

Procrastination during databasing is almost inescapable so today I surfed the forums at Warped Tour. I figured out that people don't like Katy Perry being at Warped but she does sound good live. Charlotte Sometimes apparently sounds fantastic live and bands like to be given gifts by their fans. I also learned about WEI, the Warped Eco-Initiative, which goes around and helps recycle bottles and cans around the concert grounds so even though I didn't sign up to volunteer I'm going to try and get in to help with whatever it is they're doing.

The sign I'm going to make for Katy Perry will say something along the lines of: "Katy's My Killer Queen / Lolita Queen with Killer Pipes" but that's not anything definite. I'm going to do the signs tomorrow after I get home from work but while I'm at work I'm going to print out some good pictures of my favorite bands on the purty color printer so I can have something for them to sign. It's supposed to rain at some point on Thursday so I'm hoping that I'll get stuck under a tent with a band I like and we become the best of friends, lol. Gotta be optimistic. I at least want to get a hug from Katy Perry or at least another one from Andrew from Ludo, or maybe one from Charlotte the lead singer of Charlotte Sometimes (she's supposed to be a sweetheart).

I went to this restaurant called The Mongolian Grill for lunch (I don't really know what's Mongolian about it). Basically you make a bowl full of stuff like meat and veggies and the like and they fry it up for you and then you eat it with rice. Katy Perry followed me from the office to the car to the restaurant. My mom says: "I hear this song at least once a day," and I was thinking I listen to this song at least 3 times a day. So I got hit on by the guy cooking our food, it was weird with my mom there, but he was kinda cute.

When I got home from work we (my dad, brother and I) set off to see The X Files: I Want to Believe. I ate too much buttery popcorn and had a refill on my orange slushie. Basically it was just and extended episode of The X Files tv show which I definitely didn't mind, I just kind of expected a little more. The plot was that this guy was really sick with cancer and he had his people kidnap other people and transplanting body parts to his severed head. It was so fuckin' weird, but I <3 Dana Scully. It's weird, I don't usually root for couples on TV but I distinctly remember wanting Dana & Fox to get together and in the movie they're a couple which made me happy. I figured that my replacement couple for Dana & Fox is Bones & Booth from Bones on FOX.

After reading an article on AfterEllen about Michaela Conlin (Angela Montenegro from Bones), I stumbled upon www.obsessedwithbones.com which is a blog in which they, you guessed it, obsess about Bones. I watched a couple videos from the panel they did at this year's Comic Con and Hart Hanson (the creator) said that Booth and Bones would be naked in a bed together this season. My jaw actually dropped. At some point during the interview Michaela was talking about how her ex-gf will be showing up in Season 4 and David Boreanaz (Booth) goes: "She kissed a girl and she liked it ... Booth likes it." I laughed so damn hard.

I started watching The Eye with Jessica Alba because my mom rented it and it's due tomorrow. I got about 40 minutes in and completely lost interest. I mean Alba is pretty and all and Parker Posey is in it too but I just didn't like it.

My day was chalk full of Warped band music. My friend said she might get somebody to work for her on Thurs. so that she could go but then I told her the tickets were $37 and she changed her mind. So ... I'm going stag at Warped.

I'm tired.
My neck hurts.
Parker Posey is a fantastic name.

kthxbye.

Wonderful electric

Cat Power, Keane, Katy Perry, Goldfrapp & Kasabian. Database fix to the extreme. I would say, out of the 7ish hours I worked today at least 5 of them had something to do with that stupid database. I've actually come to like doing it though because it's really easy and I can focus on my music and surf the Internet via that fantastic alt+tab function.

Got home and my mom had me drive to my brother's school to drop off his registration paperwork then I took the highway back one exit, lol. That was my first time on the highway, it wasn't too horrible considering the speed limit is 55 around Indy because the population is so concentrated. It's not that I'm that scared of driving I'm just scared that I might fail my driver's test which would bum the fuck out of me. My mom still wants me to try and get my license before I go to school and I think I could fit the test in because I've only got 5 days of work left.

But anyways I'm super freakin' pumped for Warped Tour even though I haven't heard if my travel buddy is going with me. Either way, with or without a tag-along, I think I'll have a good time, as long as it doesn't rain. I've decided pretty much what I'm wearing and what I'm bringing with me.

NEW EPISODE OF THIS JUST OUT WITH MY BUDDY LIZ FELDMAN! I'm so happy to have my weekly dose of the Feldman magic back in my life. She did an "in the field" kind of thing where her and her friend Raimy (ray-mee) shot video of Dolores Park in San Fransisco during Pride, it was scary as hell. There were wall-to-wall lesbians and these women in leather, oh dear. But Liz drank made rainbow Gaytorade, aka layered jello in rainbow colors, and drank it out of a straw. "We're [her and Raimy] are no Rachel Ray, but we could be Rachel Gay."

Work again tomorrow. Should be pretty darn fun. [/sarcasm]

Stir-fry is delicious.
I <3 KT Tunstall.
School now please!

kthxbye.

School needs to start soon

I spent most of my Friday sitting in my room messing around on my computer, like I always do. I swear I really need to get some sort of active hobby or something, I spend way too much time in front of this damn laptop. I watch some VMars and talked to the girls a little on the phone on their way down.

They got here around 7:30pm and we went over to our other friends to spend the night. We ended up ordering pizza for dinner and driving around downtown for a real quick tour. By the time we got back our other friend was there so we spent the night just relaxing and talking, it was pretty cool. On Saturday we all woke up around 10:30am ('cause we're awesome) and then headed off for our pool party at another friend's house. Another friend met us there and we just goofed off in the pool all afternoon. I got a pretty good sunburn 'cause I was too anxious to get in the pool to properly apply my SPF 70. We had squirt guns and water toys and we did cannonballs and took obnoxious pictures (Facebook here we come). I pulled my superhero towel pose from last summer and we grilled out for linner.

Went back and took showers to get all clean then hung out some more. We went downtown again but just in time for the mall to close so we ended up just walking around downtown and taking more pictures. Got back and did more hanging out. We watched Step Up 2 and I drooled over Briana Evigan again. Oh I also got to eat chocolate cake that my special ladies brought for my belated bday. We got some special drink delivered a little later in the night so some of us (not me, I felt too guilty) did a little drinkin' while we watched the end of Step Up 2 and after everybody went to bed. Those certain someones also didn't go to bed until 6am, made too much fucking noise while we were all trying to sleep and almost stepped on me while I was sleeping on the floor. Bitches need to get it straight. Mind you parents of the occupied house were gone for the weekend so there wasn't much worry there.

Woke up the next morning and said some early goodbyes then went back to bed, got back up, packed up and said some more goodbyes. I got home abso-posolutely exhausted and collapsed on my bed for more Internet and VMars. I watched last week's episode of Fear starring Brandon Routh (Superman) and Shiri Appleby, I can never remember what she's from but she looks so familiar. It wasn't all that good and I don't know if I'm going to like next week's either.

Oh I watched the new Brunch With Bridget vlog and laughed my ass off. I always look forward to Sundays, I don't know how many times I can say that.

"Knowledge is so informational."

Bridget why are you so amazing?

I created a superheo profile for an RP today, or rather I finished it because I was working on it on Friday. Electricity manipulation ftw! I miss Heroes, it needs to come back right now.

I NEED TO SEE THE X FILES MOVIE!!!
I need to get my new laptop.
Oreos are delicious.

kthxbye.

Loud music in the wee hours

Database, web site, photo search. That's the jist of my day, though I did have me some Wendy's for lunch. Delicious.

After work (we left 10 mins early) my mum and I went off to our hair appointment across town. My mum went to get her hair colored and I went for my highly anticipated hair cut. BITCHES I GOT MY BANGS BACK!!

I also got my hair layered so I look simply marvelous at the moment, thought my bangs are incredibly curly, my mum thinks they're cute. :D

I came home and watched the new vlog episode of We're Getting Nowhere and laughed myself silly. I then proceeded to watch a previous episode of You Can't Take Them Anywhere where I watched Bridget and Karman make fools of themselves (again) on snowboards. I surfed the Intarwebz, ate a tasty spicy chicken quesadilla and then watched an episode of Veronica Mars.

After checking Facebook and finding that I have not yet gotten a positive response from a certain Lieutenant of mine I proceeded to obsess over my outfit for Warped Tour. Yesterday I donned suspenders, today I had a pretty dress and my new kicks on. Narcissism suits me, yes it does. I still don't know what I'm wearing to the concert, which I am going to Lieutenant or not, nothing's gonna stop me from seeing my summer lust crush bands. No sir/ma'am. I did however manage to pick out an outfit for tomorrow and rock a side ponytail really freakin' hard.

Heck yes.

Now I'm debating whether or not to continue with some VMars or to surf the Intarwebz, I think both would be best.

MY LADIES ARE COMING TOMORROW!! Oh my goodness am I excited, and with my hair all did, ooh, this is going to be a great weekend. I don't think I'll be within computer reach tomorrow or Saturday night so look for me on Sunday.

Vanilla candles are <3.
Vacuum cleaners are icky.
I have to pee. xD

kthxbye.

Give it to me

Waking up at 10am on my day off was really more of a stretch than I wanted. But considering my dentist appointment only lasted 20 mins I'm kind of happy I had the rest of the day to do whatever the hell I wanted.

I spent most of the afternoon re-watching This Just Out with Liz Feldman and writing down all my favorite quotes.

“It’s a margarita glass of flowers.” [and it could fit like 10 margaritas]
a little later in the show with an actual drink in the glass...
“Hello crazy weird scary drink. How well did we wash this off? Not at all. (drinks and immediately spits back out) It’s delicious, who thought of that mixture... It’s the causeless-mopolitan. And somebody take it away before I throw up in my pants. I have a weird film on my teeth now; maybe it has something to do with plants or flowers. Maybe tomorrow roses will grow in my mouth.”

or one of my favs

“I love Oprah. In fact I realize everybody loves Oprah. She’s sort of like an idol, almost like a religious idol. She’s basically the Pope; so I decided they should merge and she should just be Poprah Sinfrey and she should drive around in her Poprah-mobile and she should say ‘You’re going to heaven and you’re going to heaven and you get a car’.”

Oh Liz Feldman, there goes that comedy crush again. She wrote for the Ellen DeGeneres show for two years and won 4 Emmys. She's amazing, and that girl can really wear an electric blue velvet blazer.

Regular Internet surfing produced the San Fransisco You Can't Take Them Anywhere vlog where I watched Bridget McManus and Karman Kregloe eat too much chocolate, stare at trolleys and race on Segways. I now want a stuffed painted pony to name Thunderbolt. And I also want a hot stone massage, or at least some kind of massage, that's on my to-do list this year.

I checked for bands that're going to be at Warped Tour and have fallen in lust with Be Your Own Pet. The lead singer Jemina Pearl kind of reminds me of riotgrrl Kathleen Hanna mixed with Juliette Lewis, very nice mix I must say.

Okay so anyways, I watched National Treasure 2 and it was decent. I don't know, I just never really got into it I think because Nicholas Cage has started to get on my nerves for some reason. I went to the library and picked up the books I got on hold, I didn't think it was hot outside but walking to and from made me all sweaty, ew.

Work tomorrow.
Hair cut tomorrow!
Cleaning tomorrow.
My ladies on Friday!

kthxbye.

Yargh, I'm a pirate

I woke up at 7:40am today, that's earlier than normal mind you, but I'm actually not tired considering I spent most of my morning half asleep.

Occasionally my mom will rent out part of the show rooms at the store locations for people to film cooking spots for their product or business or whatever and today we had Red Gold tomatoes or whatever in to film some recipes for their website. They set up in the very front (taking up three kitchen areas) around 8:30am this morning and were supposed to be out by 1pm at the latest. The owners really hate to have things closed off to customers (people working in kitchens=can't demonstrate them) so my mom chose the bosses' day off to film but still wanted to get them out with the afternoon to spare.

If the camera crew had just had their stuff set up it wouldn't have been so horrible but they had to hang up this giant and incredibly ugly sheet to help with lighting. The Red Gold people didn't even show up until near 9:30am and the talent (the lady to do the cooking on film) didn't show up 'til 10:25am, where at 10:30am we were supposed to start filming. They took near an hour for each shot doing the whole recipe once through then again with close ups and we had to keep stopping to switch out food and cameras and to tell people to shut up so they didn't up leaving until near 2:30pm. The Red Gold lady (grandma type) thought they could have until 3:30pm but my mom had never agreed so she had to set things straight and was still really upset during the whole thing because at lunch both bosses came in and shot some pretty dirty looks towards the filming and the ugly. So she practically had a heart attack.

We got back and I did busy work for the rest of the day then came home and chilled. My mom made some guacamole (tasty) and my sister and I helped her move bricks into the backyard for the little patio thinger she's building for the grill. We had really good spicy chicken tacos for dinner and I proceeded to fall in love once again with the web series B.J. Fletcher on AfterEllen because they had a blooper reel.

Man how I love blooper reels. And Lindy Zucker and Dana Puddicombe are so amazing. Dana has the thickest Canadian accent ever, it's adorable. I then proceeded to brush up on my Liz Feldman video. I <3 the Blue Blaze and I still want a blazer bra.

My dad came home with the Porsche he bought from some guy in Florida so while he and my mom went to pick up his van at the airport my sister and I played in the car. That's right, I pretended I was driving while sticking my leg out the window and she sat upside down in the passenger seat (I even made car noises). The back seat is literally like 1.5 feet wide, I had to sit sideways to even fit in there, as in I had my butt in one seat and my feet in the other. How in the world does that pass as a 4-seater?

Okay so I just wrote this obnoxiously long and (I think) humorous inquiry to my Facebook buddies for a partner in crime for Warped Tour because my Lieutenant has all but deserted me. She doesn't remember if she took off work and doesn't know if she can, what a ho, lol, jk. But yea, hopefully I'll be able to go because if I don't I will probably kill myself .. or at least cry all day.

My shoulders hurt.
I <3 Moulin Rouge.
Vanilla milkshakes are amazing.

kthxbye.

Holy rusted metal Batman!

My morning at work blew by unbelievably fast as I was busy catching up on some college paper work, a little web site updating and I even managed to organize the giant bookcase in my mom's office. We set off to lunch downtown at this chinese restaurant PF Chang's with some women from one of the local tv stations and spent the next hour and a half just talking about work and whatever. I had really good chicken lo mein. <33

I even managed to snag myself a belt at a store across the way before we had to get back to work (the restaurant was in the mall). It's reversible, that's how I like my belts, black on one side and brown on the other; and it's from Fossil, heck yes.

Got back just in time for my mom's meeting to be canceled at work which left me doing some very boring inventorying (again) and I got to do a purchase order for some new cookware. That wasn't all that boring but after that little bit of fun I managed to get myself back into that fantastic little database updating task. So. Much. Fun.

Home for 15 minutes (and two hotdogs) and then we were off to see Batman!

Magnificent cinematic piece, oh yes. I was very happy. Heath Ledger, goodness, that tongue thing and his face, he was amazing. Post-mortem Oscar I think it could be a possibility. I predicted a good chunk of the things to happen but was surprised by almost the same amount. I know people said the movie could've ended somewhere around an hour and a half, but seriously?

SPOILERS (though the only cool kid to read this has already seen the movie, lol)

How are you going to leave The Joker locked up? That could definitely not have been the end of the movie, come on, use your brains. I was very upset to see Rachel die, I mean kill a Gyllenhaal? Whatever. And Two-Face too? I was sure that he could've carried another movie, but now he's gone and there's no more Ledger so no more Joker, who's Batman's next villain going to be? Anyways, the stunts were good, I wasn't so much digging Bale in this movie, his Batman voice made me think he was hurting his vocal cords and Batman just kind of got on my nerves. He was too damn impulsive and selfish. Batman as the scapegoat, that was a little better, but still, I was all about The Joker in this movie. It was fantastic and I would absolutely go see it again.

Now I cannot wait for The X Files movie to come out. I'm hoping that I'm not going to be let down, but seeing Dana Scully and Fox Mulder in action again is all I'm really looking forward to. The movie previews during Batman weren't very good, I wasn't hooked into any of them, except I'm likely to give in and go to the new Bond. Daniel Craig is pretty good as Bond, I'm not gonna lie to myself anymore. I just got hooked on a brunette 007 so it was hard for me to turn my ways. But Quantum of Solace, what the hell kind of name is that for a movie?

Tomorrow I get to go watch another cooking segment get filmed in the morning which means I have to wake up 20 mins early, ick. Tonight I've gotta find me some better reference pics for my hair do and maybe watch a little pixie PI to put me to bed.

Dentist on Wednesday.
Orange slushies are delicious.
Work is stupid.

kthxbye.

The wonder of college

After accidentally waking up at 1:21pm (oops) I got up for a quick lunch and proceeded to fill my day with one delectably blonde little pixie of a college PI, that's right that notorious vixen Veronica Mars. Between episodes (I've just finished the 8th today, 5th in the third season) I did my usual Internet surfing and tried to find reference pictures for my hair cut on Thursday.

Guess what? My pretty little PI came in handy. That's right, I've got me a KBell picture as my reference. After my mini-KBell obsessive quest of the day I am happy to report (to myself that is) that Elle Bishop will continue into the third season of Heroes, but only for like 5 episodes. What a rip off! Electrokinesis is the shit.

After dinner and my shower I managed a little narcissistic fashion show in my room. They happen a lot more often than I remember them to in high school. I think I'm finally becoming a little more comfortable in my own skin. I keep thinking about the whole new person I want to become my sophomore year in college. I'm going to try and be more confident, I've proven to myself through recent and past excursions that I'm much better at making friends than I used to be, so new friends is good. I can't wait 'til I can see all my girls on a regular basis and be able to hang out with them and just do whatever.

Speaking of...
My ladies are coming to visit this coming weekend! All four of my main gals from school are making the trip down/up to hang out with me and my not-so-geographically-challenged girls. I have no idea what we're going to do while they're here but I'm very happy that I get to see them, even though I'll get to see them in a month anyways. Just a nice little precursor to amp me up for when school actually starts up again.

I'm pretty anxious to start going to classes again and just be on campus. I'm a nerd, it happens whatever, so I just like school a little more than I should. I love having things to be done, having things due, having to worry about projects and assignments (tests not so much) but I just love school. I love the smell of new (and used) books, the school supplies, the class rules, the giant rooms filled with students, the buses, the busy sidewalks, riding my bike across busy streets and dodging people. I miss being able to walk down the hall to see a friend and eat their food. I miss people watching in the dining halls and checking out strangers when walking to class. I miss not being pestered by my family and not having to worry about family drama.

I am however going to miss my family (you too buckaroo) when I go back. I'll definitely miss my kitty cats.

I have a fancy lunch meetin' downtown tomorrow, I'm dressing up a little more than usual.

My stomach is topsy-turvy.
Books are awesome.
Cookies are great for breakfast.

kthxbye.

A Shadow on the Wall

I was in no mood to type last night so sorry for the short delay.

Yesterday I woke up at 12:45pm. It was magnificent. I ate lunch, took a shower and hung out in my room all day pondering what it was I should be doing with my free time that would be more productive than checking my Facebook and reading fanfiction. I did, however, have a bit of a chat with my future roommate, she seems quite ecstatic.

After an afternoon filled with singing that required repeated lung fulls of air I set off for a night out with my ladies. We went to Red Robin and they got me presents, paid for my dinner and got the wait staff to sing for me. I got a couple books, a gift card, some Ninja Turtle action figures (heck yes) and some little knick-knacks (aka chatchkies). We came back to my supposedly empty house, I found my father there mooching and kicked his ass out. We ate a delicious cookie cake and watched part of King Arthur on tv. I went to bed at 12:30am because today I had to wake up at 6:30am.

Sleep was relatively quiet, I woke up with some very good memories. Mandy Musgrave how I love you.

I got picked up by a friend around 7:15am and we headed off to the Indiana Robotics Invitational for the day. I'm such a nerd. Decked out in 1018, and my new kicks of course, we just hung out in the pits and near the field, watched matches and talked with his team members. I forgot how much I missed hanging out and making extensively dirty jokes with a bunch of boys. Came home around 4:30pm and hung out in my quiet house once again. I listened to loud music, surfed the Internet (for quite some time) and then watched The Number 23. I listened to the loudest music I think I possibly have in a very long time when I was in the shower and was enveloped quite heavily in the fantastic acoustics of that tiny bathroom. M.I.A. was my choice and she was just great, a very nice twist to all the mellow stuff I've been listening to as of late.

I do, though, absolutely love singing to Brandi Carlile in the wee hours. She's got such a great, calming voice. Low and scratchy enough to make me feel like I'm staring at the stars in the middle of meadow with only the crickets to keep me company. I love music that puts me in my place.

I'm very much in the mood to write something at the moment so I'm off to use my brain parts to the best of their current potential, that is if my singing doesn't interfere too heavily.

My 5th grade music teacher said I had a lovely voice.
My college freshman english teacher said I had a very active imagination.
My mom says that I should be a writer when I grow up.

kthxbye.

That's so good...

I'm actually not really in the mood to type up my day's goings-about so this might sound a bit ... er I mean read a bit boring, so sorry.

Woke up at 8:30am, ate some Rice Crispies (listened to them pop) and headed downtown to the City Market to watch one of the chefs do a cooking segment for Citizen's Gas. I was once again told that I look young, but this time it was followed with: "That'll be great when you're older." Yea whatever, I don't like looking young, I mean I am kind of but seriously .. okay whatever.

Chef Ben (he's such a silly goober) is really friendly and funny and he jokes all the time. He made this mustardy-sauce sauteed chicken and an oregano salad ... needless to say I didn't eat either of them. My mum and I were there for about an hour while he shot that first segment but left before he did his second segment: peaches wrapped in prosciutto, yea. x/

He went to see the new Batman last night (aka Weds) and he said it was amazing so I'm really looking forward to seeing it. Hopefully I'll get to fit it in sometime this weekend.

Anyways, we went to another store and did inventory. I had a Sprite and a mini cranberry-orange muffin (<33). We were there for nearly two hours and my mum had a manager's meeting at two (it was 1:00pm when we left) so we picked up Wendy's on the way back to corporate and if you can believe this ... they didn't have chocolate frostys. Yea that's right, you heard me, no chocolate, but they did have vanilla (not nearly as good, tasted a little coffee-ish). We get back to the office and I go into the system and start updated all the inventory we took and my mum disappears to her meeting at 2:15pm.

I go into her office and make a phone call to the dorm I'm going to stay in and guess what I get a new roommate (my old one got a single, what a ho, lol). I throw a minor internet tantrum, check the girl on Facebook and now I am actually incredibly indifferent about the situation. It's like I flipped a switch or something. Hopefully my school year won't suck total ass.

At about 3:45pm I'm finished with my work so I just kind of kick around on the internetz for a little bit hoping my mum will come back and give me something to do. I looked at the news on CNN.com, looked at TreeHugger, PopSci, Threadless, DeviantArt even and she's not back for another hour and a half. 5:10ish she comes shuffling back all exhausted and I'm kind of sad I can't mess around any more but she tells me to update some more stuff and I do. We leave and then I'm home and checking up on my internets and watch Veronica Mars.

I just watched this show on NBC called Fear Itself and it's these hour long mini horror movies, a new one each week. There are going to be 13 episodes and they just did episode 6. I've only seen one other one and it kind of sucked but my mum and my sister are obsessed. This one reminded me of 28 Days/Weeks Later 'cause there was zombie-ness. I'm going to watch one we missed over vacation now because apparently it was good.

I don't have work tomorrow. I'm sleeping in and getting kidnapped tomorrow night. I have the house to myself this weekend.

Singing is fun.
I need a haircut.
I <3 Jim.

kthxbye.

I only wanna be closer to you

Things I missed while on vacation:
1. Kacey Kacey!
2. My computer
3. Singing incredibly loudly
4. Women's Murder Club
5. My kitties <33
6. Not eating fast food

So.... I spent the first three hours of my work day at the prettiest store of the company I work at. It's a showcase so there are shiny appliances everywhere and the walls are all pretty colors. My mum went back to finish the inventory of the Le Creuset cookware (so many pretty colors!) so we went around checking off things in the back first then did some labeling and re-organizing of the merchandise in the actual store. The two new colors we got in were Dijon (yellow/gold) and Caribbean (light teal) so we made a new display using the Dijon with the Cobalt cookware and then put the Caribbean back with the Flame (orange) and Cherry. I have had my fill of ceramic and cast-iron cookware let me tell you.

We went out to the mall for lunch (since it was across the street) and had some extremely tasty chinese, terryaki chicken, egg noodles and veggies (cabbage wasn't good though). We then proceeded down to Journey's to get me a new pair of Chucks ... mine have loose heels, ripped insides and outsides (there's a hole in my right shoe that's 3 inches long). After complaining about their dirtiness we bought them and some very brightly colored no-show socks and headed back to the corporate office for some mind-numbing work.

I made labels, worked on the web site and ... well yea that was it. And of course I goofed off. :]

After work we went to the new Wal-Mart near us and it was damn pretty. I mean Wal-Mart's are always ugly high ceilings with horrible light and their so damn white and floors are ugly but this one, very nice. First thing I said when I went inside was "Why is everything so blue?" All the signs and suck were this really pretty kind of sky blue and the floor was red clay looking and even though it was backwards and we couldn't find anything it was pretty cool. We bought a squirt gun and some Pokeman (pokemanz!!) cards for one of my brother's friend's birthday then went home.

I watched some Women's Murder Club and then had a GIANT (aka thick) burger and a tasty salad for dinner. Chocolate cake followed and so did an episode of Veronica Mars and some serious Facebooking, lol.

Actually when I first got home I locked myself in my room, turned my music up really loud and sang to my heart's content. <33 I am currently singing to Brandi Carlile .. just not as loudly as I was earlier.

Tomorrow I get to go downtown in the morning then to another store for inventory, should be pretty cool.

Oh and I got this most super freakin' excellently fabulously fantastically magnificent bday present. I really do <3 Jim (and you too Kacey!!).

WARPED TOUR IS IN 2 WEEKS!!
I hate clean shoes.
I still love my little Pancake. <33

kthxbye.

How I Won The West

4270 miles
70+ hours of music
65+ hours in the car
15+ mosquito bites
3 motels
2 cabins
1 hotel
1 campground
lots of nature

.... the end. jk.

We (ie my dad, sister, brother and I) left Saturday at 2:00pm, why earlier I have no idea. I spent the journey (650 miles, 8.5ish hours) listening to my music and my brother complain. We stayed somewhere in far eastern South Dakota and then got up at 8am the next morning to drive some more. We hit Badlands National Park at the 1000 miles mark almost exactly and took the scenic route off the highway through the park. We only got out at the beginning to take pictures up in the rocks (I didn't wear shoes, I'm so awesome) and then drove on through to Mt. Rushmore. There was a flurry of picture taking, my brother bought a pretty rock (idk why) and then we were off for another 5 hours of driving to Buffalo, Wymoming to spend the night; we did manage to hit the Devil's Tower from Close Encounters on the way there. Woke up 8am once more and drove through Big Horn National Park (snow in the mountains, Tensleep Creek aka rushing river!) to Cody, Wyoming, home of Buffalo Bill, by lunch time. We ate at Irma's Hotel, which was the first hotel Bill Cody built in the city, and then scuffed around a couple local shops.

After buying nothing ('cause we're cheap) we headed off to Yellowstone! We did just the eastern section which was mostly forest, mountains, burnt forest and Yellowstone Lake. It was beautiful but after a while I got tired of looking at burnt trees (all thanks to the fire of 1988). A little trip to look at the Yellowstone lodge .. it's yellow btw ... and then we went back to our cabin at Absoroka Ranch. Our cabin was the farthest away and closest to the stables so my sister and I spent an hour or two just hanging out feeding the horses alfalfa and clover then went to the main building for dinner around 7pm. We all played a couple obnoxiously loud games of volleyball, got a bunch of mosquito bites and went to bed fearing for our lives from the bear threats (even though the owners had yet to see a bear near the ranch that year, lol).

Tuesday (yes that's the day I'm on) we woke up, packed up and headed back into Yellowstone to do the northern loop which I would definitely say was the prettiest. We stopped across from the Mud Volcano thermal site and hike down a hill and play a little in the Yellowstone River (very cold!) and I stole a rock. :] The thermal site was the most putrid thing I have smelt ever in my life. Sulfur kills, but the bubbling mud was pretty cool, not gonna lie. The Blacktail Deer Plateau, the very northern track, (where I took most of my pictures) was the best places and it was nice and cool and just beautiful. We saw a lot of buffalo, elk and deer. We didn't get out to see the Mammoth Hot Springs because it was like 95F out and it was way too crowded but we did climb some rocks a little later on and hike up around Lava Creek and collect a few more rocks. Around 5pm we checked into our next cabin at the Bill Cody Ranch and it was huge! It was part of the main lodge building had two rooms, two bathrooms and it was so damn comfortable. There was some random ass turkey scuttling around the ranch so my brother chased it and my sister took pictures, it was hilarious. My sister and I headed out to their stables for an hour or two and fed their horses. They weren't as friendly and there were at least triple the amount as the last ranch but they had a two month old foal and another younger horse with their mothers' in one pen so we spent all our time there feeding them and petting them (very sweet horses). I slept very well that night.

Unfortunately I did have to wake up early the next morning (Weds) but for a horse ride! My horses name was Timber and he was so damn stubborn, he stopped every 3 seconds to nibble at something along the trail I kicked him constantly and my shoulder and back hurt after from pulling up on the reins to lift his head after we were done. My sister's horses name was Marcell but the handlers called him Bob because he had the number 808 shaved on his rump. The ride was 2 hours and we went back behind the ranch with two handlers, Bryant & Trinity, and 6 other people up into the mountains. It was really great and I was very happy to go riding again, I keep forgetting how much I love horses. My dad tried to teach me how to spot the breeds, but I can't remember anything.

We packed up the car again and did just a bit of southern Yellowstone on our way down to Grant Teton National Park. We hit our campsite at Colter Bay, 2 min drive from Jackson Lake and got settled into our incredibly shitty "platform tent". So basically it was a large cement slab with a metal pole and canvas tent. It had 4 beds hanging (two chains at each end and a frame with a mattress thinger) off the walls and this scary little oven. It really wasn't that horrible but I'd expected something a little nicer, my dad was immediately pissed off so he took a 3HOUR NAP and left us to do nothing. We trotted off to check out the woods and the local stables (run by the Amish, we couldn't get close) and I took pictures and then started reading one of the books I brought with me. When my dad woke up he took us down to the beach and we hung out, I tried to get sun, finished my scifi book and then went back to the campsite to roast hot dogs. After (gooey marshmallow and m&m cookie s'mores) my sister and I walked back to the beach to just kick around a little. We ended up with mosquito bites out tha ying yang and I only got 30 pages into my James Patterson Women's Murder Club book. Back to the camp site and into bed covered in itchy stuff and I read half my book before going to bed.

Thursday we woke up around 9 and headed off to check out the rest of the Park, we drove the western route near all the lakes and stopped off at String Lake, Jenny Lake, the Visitor Center near the south entrance and the Snake River. We went back to the camp site for lunch (I had PBJ <33) and then went back down to the visitor center to get picked up for our Snake River raft float. Our guy, Reed, was really nice and we were on the boat with 7 other people. My dad, sister and I were up front with this couple and their cute as a button little girl Kate from Williamsburg, VA and they were very talkative and nice. We stuck my brother with the family in the back with two boys his age, lol. We say a Bald Eagle, a couple Ospreys (fish eagles), three moose and lots of rushing water. They river was still really high from the good winter they had so we were rushing along at 5-7mph. The trip normally takes 3-4 hours and it took us under 2. After the raft we went down south to Jackson Hole for a quick dinner. It's a skiing town so everything is very cute and it was just amazing. Went back to the camp site, got in bed and I finished my WMC book.

Friday we did western Yellowstone on our way up to Montana. Old Faithful was like 15 minutes late and I took a lot of pictures. We went to the Old Faithful Lodge and it was gorgeous, all the timber was shelacked (sp? lol) and it was just giant. We mailed a couple post cards, bought fishing licenses then proceeded a little farther north the try and fish in this little creek called Nez Perce. It was surprisingly warm and we all waded out but we didn't catch anything. In the car again and 4 hours later we were up in Big Sky, Montana at our hotel The Lodge at the Big Sky ski resort. It was beautiful but everything was so expensive. I threw a money tantrum (it happens, I hate spending money) then proceeded to grumble until we found a decent restaurant where I had amazing hot wings but shitty lasagna (weird combinations, I know). Back to the hotel for sleep.

Woke up 9am the next day and had a quick breakfast (mm bagel) and then we went back out to try and find a couple good places to fish. We didn't have much luck and the places we did find had a lot of rushing fucking freezing cold water. It was so cold I thought I was going to cry or collapse, or both. We drove down to West Yellowstone, Montana for some lunch and I went to a local bookstore for a couple minutes then we went over the border to Idaho (no Udaho, lol) just 'cause my dad wanted too (and it was 10 minutes away). Got back to the hotel and went swimming in the pool and almost fainted in the hot tub (they always seem like fun until I can't breath). My dad went out to some music festival and my brother, sister and I ate downstairs at the bar and my dad came back tipsy but he played it off. I really hate that about him, he has absolutely no problem drinking around us (beer in the car, vodka and a box of wine, he's such a girl, at the camp site and hotel) or even cursing around us (he curses like a sailor) and he also likes to talk about the divorce all the time which just ushers complete and total silence from everyone around him.

Okay so anyways, Sunday we woke up 8am, ate breakfast and spent 13 hours in the car. I wanted to kill myself. I listened to music for the most part but watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind when I got bored. We drove through Montana, Wyoming and stopped in the middle of Nebraska for the night. Monday we drove 12 hours, more music but no movies and more fighting, through Missouri and Illinois then back home. I hate cars. My back hurt so bad when I got back and hunching over to write this blog isn't helping much. Got home and had tasty tasty meatloaf for dinner 'cause my mom loves me and then unpacked and collapsed in front of my computer for the night. A friend called me at midnight and we talked for a half hour before we both went to bed.

I woke up this morning, reluctantly, to my alarm and went to work. Lots of little jobs, some web site work and my mom took me to Olive Garden for lunch. I had this 85 different cheeses dish (okay 5) but it was really good. My mom had a couple presents for me (we spread my presents out over the summer), I got a cute little leather purse, the new Popular Science magazine ('cause I'm a nerd and it's my most favorite magazine ever!) and a $25 gift card to Books-A-Million 'cause my mom didn't know what kind of books to give me. We went back to work for a short bit then headed off to another store to do inventory which was pretty fun, I got free oatmeal cookies and a Mountain Dew <33. We're going back tomorrow to finish.

Well now I think I'm going to watch an episode of Women's Murder Club because I have been craving it. One of the things I missed most about being home (besides my Kacey Kacey, hello no duh) was being able to sing at the top of my lungs. For the past three hours I have been doing just that. <33

Album of choice on the trip: KT Tunstall's Acoustic Etravaganza
Drink of choice: Water
My back hurts.
Work is boring.
TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY BITCHES!! (I'm being kidnapped on Friday)
I <33 delicious chocolate cake.

Please listen to "Lucky" by Jason Mraz feat. Colbie Caillat, it's beautiful.

kthxbye.

Michigan, hey look it's me!!

AHMAGAUD!! Look it's a me, Mario.

So I had to take notes on my vacation in the margin of my brand spankin' new Sudoku book to remember when I did things because my memory is shot.

It takes roughly 3 hours to get up to my grandparents' house and the ride up is never that horrible, actually I don't even remember how that ride went, lol. I woke up at 8 though, so we got there at 11 and they'd just woken up, late sleepers, gotta love 'em. Okay, so yea we unpacked in our rinky-dink little room in the basement. It's my grandma's sewing room with a couch and a tv and a bunch of little shelves with containers and stuff so my sister and I fix some make-shift dressers to put all our stuff in. Then it's off to the beach, but just for some lunch mind you, and we stop at this "fancy" little convenience store called The Whistle Stop and get some delicious sandwiches. Spent the next two hours eating lunch and walking along the beach. Did a little antique shopping along the Red Arrow Highway ... didn't find anything too good, actually we didn't buy anything at all but I took an obnxious amount of pictures that first day.

My sister and I watched that movie Where the Heart Is or something with Natalie Portman and her Wal-Mart baby. As soon as I realized what movie it was I yelled "WAL-MART BABY!" and my sister just looked at me funny. I forgot Ashley Judd was in the movie too so when I saw her all I could think of was this Brad Paisley song where he talks about wanting to get an acting gig making out with Ashley Judd. I had to sleep on a blow-up mattress which normally isn't that bad, but apparently I can't sleep on them right 'cause I always wake up with a neck ache.

Monday ... woke up at like 10am and just kind of lazed around and ate cheese pastry!! My grandma makes the best cheese pastry in all the universe and I ALWAYS eat too much of it while I'm there. More lazing around and then we head 20ish minutes north to go for a dune buggy ride! Our driver's name was Mark and he was very silly, which I've realized that it's probably like a job requirement or something because I've never had a somber dune buggy driver. There was a family from Germany in our buggy and the dad kept leaning on my hands when I was trying to hold on to the bar thinger to not slide into my sister. I got some sand in my eyes ... and in my mouth, but it was a great trip. After that we headed 15 mins away to go for a boat ride on the Kalamazoo River. We walked around the little town we were in while we were waiting to board and then went on the boat for an hour and a half. They took us into the harbor and we watched this wimpy little sailboat fall over a couple times then we went up river and turned around just before Lake Michigan then went back and docked. It was really peaceful, I kind of just chilled out and watched the water and thought, I'm a good thinker, lol. We got Pizza Hut on the way home, I had a pizone or whatever they're called and shared it with my sister. Y'know those 1lb. things in the commercial where they say "NO MOOCH!"

Tuesday we spent the bulk of the day at the beach. Got there and the water was so freaking cold so I read my Canadian science fiction book (lol) for a little while then helped bury my brother and cousin in a 3 ft hole they dug next to us. After a while I was getting pretty hot so I went out and goofed off in the water with my sister while my mom took the boys back because by that time we'd been there for 2 hours already and the boys were already tired. My mom came back and the three of us hung out and walked on the beach some more. They collected rocks and I tried to but I couldn't not skip rocks. OMG, I have the most intense rock-skipping obsession, so much so that on Wednesday my shoulder felt like an elephant sat on it, I'm so awesome. After a shower back at the house and some more lounging we had really tasty hamburgers my grandma made for dinner then went out to this ice cream place called Oink's. I got Moose Tracks. <33 comfy chair and watched Bones <33. It stormed a lot while we were in the movie but it decided to storm pretty bad once again at the Haven Hill house so the satellite went out a couple times so I did Sudoku and listened to my music and eventually went to bed.

Thursday my mom, sister and I left early and went back to my grandma's first house to go hang out at the beach and feed the birds. Dear lord, there were so many geese and ducks it was crazy (Facebook pictures kthx). The geese all got up really close, as in I could pet them close, and we went through two loaves of bread. I name two of the geese 'cause I'm awesome. When we got back to the house the others hadn't gotten back yet and my mom idnd't have her key so we had to wait outside for 15 minutes and I really had to pee so I was walking around the entire house. They got back and we hung out again then went to Captain Mike's fun park or whatever it was called. We did go-karts (they didn't have much go though) and bumper cars. My brother and my cousin did bumper boats and my sister and I did batting cages. My brother and cousin did this water balloon fight thing too which was hilarious then we played a couple video games inside and headed back home. After dinner we went out and caught a some fireworks (the traffic was hell) then came back and pretty much just konked out.

Friday (today kind of) my mom, sister and I went back to The Whistle Stop and got some breakfast then went to the beach again and walked along collecting rocks. This time I collected six ... and my shoulder hurts again. Went back, packed and drove home. I fell asleep listening to my music and woke up when my brother kicked my seat. Unpacked a little at home and caught up on my Internetz then went out to see some fireworks since it's the 4th of July, hello no duh.

Right now I should be packing but I decided to blog while my memories are fresh. We're leaving by 2pm tomorrow and driving at least 7 hours up towards Mt. Rushmore. My dad can't pick up the rental car 'til noon, it's a Pontiac Grand Prix, a sedan, idk if that was a smart choice. We're moving sites like 5 times on this trip so I have to be really careful not to lose anything. I'm trying to equip my mp3 player with road trip worthy music but I'm so damn tired. I can't wait to sleep in my bed. <33

Fireworks are loud.
I love you Kacey Kacey!!
KT Tunstall is awesome.

kthxbye.

P.S. Another blog, if you're lucky, July 14th (the day before my 19th bday bitches)
